Vampire Book Challenge!

I was just checking out the sites I usually visit when I came across a blog post of Vampires.com entitled "Vampire Book Challenge!". This is just a mini challenge where readers are required to share three vampire books and share a little about them. They don’t have to be your favorite books, they don’t even have to be books you have read. Simply tell something about these three vampire books you chose. Maybe it was a book you read and loved, a book you read and hated, or books you want to read.

I am a huge fan of vampire books and TV series so I got interested to join this challenge. I have read many vampire books before, but then again, I have to share only three of them. And through this challenge, I will post one that I have read, and two that's included in my TBR list.

Here are my top three picks:

Vampire Kisses: The Beginning
by Ellen Screiber
Series: Vampire Kisses
Published April 21st 2009 by Katherine Tegen Books

A new guy in town.
Rumors of vampires.
Dangerous first love.
This is where it all begins. . . .
The mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood empty for years. But one day it seems to be occupied, and its mysterious, handsome inhabitant Alexander Sterling becomes the source of much talk around town. Raven, a vampire-obsessed Goth-girl who has always considered herself an outsider in "Dullsville," is determined to uncover the truth surrounding the secretive Alexander. As she gets to know him, and their spark intensifies, Raven finds herself in some unanticipated situations. Can Alexander make her lifelong dream come true? But love always has its complications—especially when it can only be awakened at nightfall.
The first three books in Ellen Schreiber's bestselling Vampire Kisses series capture the thrill of a most unusual romance.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE BOOK

This is probably the most romantic YA vampire book I ever read! I can relate with the main character, Raven, who's obsessed with vampires. Plus the hot vampire Alexander, who's very mysterious and protective. Now who wouldn't fall for that?

Thirst No. 1: The Last Vampire, Black Blood, and Red Dice
by Christopher Pike
Series: Thirst Series
Published August 4th 2009 by Simon Pulse

As to blood -
ah, blood, the whole subject fascinates me. I do like that as well, warm and dripping, when I am thirsty....
Alisa has been in control of her urges for the five thousand years she has been a vampire. She feeds but does not kill, and she lives her life on the fringe to maintain her secret. But when her creator returns to hunt her, she must break her own rules in order to survive.
Her quest leads her to Ray. He is the only person who can help her; he also has every reason to fear her. Alisa must get closer to him to ensure her immortality. But as she begins to fall in love with Ray, suddenly there is more at stake than her own life....

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE BOOK

I haven't read this yet. I have the complete set of this series. The blurb looks very interesting and the covers are pretty so as their spine...

Marked (House of Night #1)
by P.C. Cast + Kristin Cast
Series: House of Night Collection
Published May 1st 2007 by St. Martin's Griffin

The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed.  In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire -- that is, if she makes it through the Change.  Not all of those who are chosen do.  It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers.  When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE BOOK

I have been wanting to read this ever since Vampire Kisses. But I wasn't able to find the first installment, Marked. So I just waited until a copy is available. Unfortunately, my TBR list is very long when I bought the book so I just have to read it some other time. I also love the covers of this series -- dark and intimidating.

How about you? Are you an avid reader of vampire books? If yes, tell me about your top three vampire books!

  1. I have these three but still have not read them though I heard so many good things about them. I hope to find time and read them soon. Well, I haven't really read a lot of vampire novels. The closest thing I had with a vampire in it is The Mortal Instruments. Hehe. :)
