SWOON WORTHY MOMENTS slash QUOTABLES

"Good night Miss Morgan. I'll be seeing you in your dreams tonight."
"Oh no, don't say that. I need to get a good night's sleep tonight and nightmares always keep me up.

-o0o-

"So would it be more appropriate to say, 'I'm banging the teacher,' instead of 'I'm f**king the teacher'?"
"Why do you have to be so vulgar?"
"Okay, how about this: I'm having sexual relations with the teacher?"

-o0o-

“Screw getting even,” he said as he pushed me up against the wall and began to kiss me again, this time leaving me breathless.

-o0o-

“What is your type?” he asked smoothly.
“Certainly not you,” I said with a grin.
“You don’t even know what type I am.”
“Oh, I think I know enough.”
“I think you may have doubts or else you wouldn't be here tonight,” he said.

-o0o-

“Are you ready?” I asked.
“I guess, unless you want to see me in your bed first,” he said with a smirk.

-o0o-

“Did I ever tell you that I love you?” I asked.
His smile was a mile wide. “I think you did – but you can say it again.”
“I love you more than you’ll ever know.”
“Oh, I think I do know,” he said. He got up and stood behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. He moved my hair away from my ear, bent down, and whispered, “But I think I love you more.”

Oh you guys. You should read this book! It's totally worth it! I'm still madly deeply inlove with Dailan until now!

And how about you? Who's your Swoon Worthy Saturday book boyfriend? Let me know! :)

Book Review: AN UNPLANNED LESSON by Beth Rinyu

An Unplanned Lesson
by Beth Rinyu
Series: Unplanned Series
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published March 8th 2013 by Beth Rinyu

Nicole Morgan, the new second grade teacher at Pineview Elementary school, has it all together in the classroom; it’s her personal life that she can’t find peace with. Unable to let go of the guilt that she is harboring from her past, she punishes herself by running from all potential relationships.
Her patience is put to the test when Dailan O’Maley the obnoxious but very sexy uncle of one of her students enters her life. She slowly cracks away at Dailan’s crude, crass exterior when they are forced to work together for the sake of his nephew. The two of them learn a lesson in love that neither had planned as they discover that the guilt they are hiding deep inside isn’t the only thing they have in common. Unbeknownst to her, he holds more than just the key to her heart.

MY REVIEW

Let me start by saying that the lesson learned by the protagonist in this book is really unplanned. That's one of the reasons why I am so in loved with this book. I am quite sure that my review will never ever justify how much I love An Unplanned Lesson. It actually took me a week to finish this review since I just can't find the right words for this amazing story. I was left speechless.

Nicole Morgan have a pretty messed up life -- having short-term jobs, or being jobless at all; failure in love life because she's afraid of marriage and it's responsibilities; and she's not in good terms with her parents who talks about nothing but about the life of her sister. All she have is her younger brother, her "pooh", Justin, who works as a Marine. The story of her life is very realistic that you can actually put yourself into her shoes.

Until she found a job as a grade school teacher and met the little devil Ryan O'Maley. She can't seem to find out how to control him so she called over his guardian. It turned out that Ryan's uncle, Dailan o'Maley, is just as devilish as the kid. He's arrogant, sarcastic, and... hot. Yes. Smokin' hot. She wasn't prepared for a guy like him. She thought she would hate him to death but she's wrong about that. She wanted him as much as he wanted her.

As the story went on, I found out that Ryan is such a very sweet little guy. He's also loving whatever is going on with his teacher and his uncle. As for Nicole and Dailan, I kinda fell in love with their love-hate relationship for each other, or whatever label they have for it. I just hated Nicole when I noticed she's about the repeat one of her biggest mistakes in the past. I mean, seriously, who wouldn't fall for a guy like Dailan?! Who would even doubt falling in love with him?!

But somewhere along the story, I shed tears. Heavily. Something happened that broke my heart and shattered it into pieces. Tears can't stop falling down my cheeks. I just told myself that sometimes, all I need is a really good cry. And this book, this book provided it for me. I loved the ending, though. There is this secret from Nicole's past that was revealed in the end I just love how Beth concealed it from the beginning. I thought that secret will not be exposed until the second book but I was shocked.

I totally recommend this to whoever book lover I know. This is such an amazing book and I wanted to read the next book so bad!

Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen - or in today's world a touch of the keyboard. I am the author of The Exception To The Rule, An Unplanned Lesson and Drowning In Love. I am currently working on An Unplanned Life the sequel to An Unplanned Lesson....stay tuned!

My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? I was born and have lived in New Jersey my whole life. I'm a mom of twin teenage boys, a teenage stepson, a crazy Border Collie and a cat with an identity crisis! I guess you can say writing is my form of Calgon! I am married to a wonderful guy - but we'll keep that between us, I don't want him getting a big head!

Thanks for taking the time to learn about my books and me! If you decide to read them (and I hope you do!) please be sure to go on and review it for me - yes, even if you don't like it!

Blog Tour + Review: PEACEMAKER by Eva Gerald

Peacemaker (Peacemaker #1)
by Eva Gerald
Series: Peacemaker Series
Published July 28th 2013 by Shine Publishing
Buy Links: Amazon

Maya Voland doesn’t want to spend her senior year in the cold, isolated town of Shine, Vermont. Reeling from the death of her father and the discovery that her life is a carefully constructed set of lies, Maya wants to escape to a place where she can be invisible.
The residents of Shine can’t let Maya leave. She’s too important to their cause. A manipulator by nature, Maya was born with an extraordinary ability to influence the emotions and actions of others. Shiners will go to great lengths to train her to use those gifts to further their agenda, before other, more sinister forces intercede.
Shea Knightly has been waiting most of his life for Maya to come back home to Shine. He, too, has powers of persuasion and he’s never encountered a girl who can say no to his stunning looks and overwhelming charm. He’ll pull out all the stops to bring Maya into the fold.
Now Maya must decide—is the intense attraction she feels for Shea reciprocated, or is he just feeding her more lies to draw her into the dangerous world of the Shiners? Even if there is something real between them, what price is she willing to pay to make his cause her own?

MY REVIEW

I thought the story would not meet my expectations because the cover didn't attract me at all. But the story is actually great! It's full of secrets, mysteries, and revelation that would totally make hold of you until the end. It's not boring at all since you wanted to know the answers to all the questions about Maya's life -- who she really is.

Maya holds a very strong character. Strong enough to be able to carry all the things that are happening around her. You cannot say she's weak because she was able to cope up with her new surroundings especially with the new people that she would have to deal with with her new slash old life. She never thought moving to Shine would give her the answers she's looking for ever since.

As for Tristan and Shea, I love them both! But there is something about Shea that made me love him a little bit more. He may be the still and quiet type of guy, but he's there all along for Maya. It's like she's stronger with him around. He doesn't say much words of encouragement, but his actions do. At first I thought he didn't like the presence of Maya around... but I was wrong. Totally wrong.

In every book, there will always be a bitch that every reader (I guess) would hate. And in this book, that would be Fallon. I hate her so much! She's such an overly attached girlfriend. She looks up to herself as if she's the most beautiful girl in the world and she's the only person her boyfriend needed in his life. Which is not, obviously. Her jealousy over Maya is OA. I don't get why she wanted to get Maya's ass out of Shine when in fact Maya is not doing anything to her. I want to pull her out of the book and pull her hair!

This book is a page turner. There are many unexpected events that happened here that'll make you want more. Family secrets. New-found friends. Unexpected love life. They're all here.

To Cassandra Kelleher, trust is a dirty word. A teenage selkie who grew up on land, all she wants is to save her family from the man who stole their sealskins. EXCERPT

Chapter 1

Midnight is the perfect time to eat a turtle.

Submerged in an icy river, I focused briefly on the thought, then let it go. My brother should be close enough to hear, and it would make him come running, so to speak. Mentally, I grinned.

My lungs craved air, so I flicked my hind flippers to propel me upwards. As my head broke the surface, I spun to scan both sides of the forested shore. No human faces peered back in the moonlight, but I pivoted in the water to check again as I sucked in a breath. Not that a nighttime fisherman would see anything odder than a seal poking her nose out of a coastal Maine river—which wasn’t a totally crazy sight, though most seals kept to saltwater—but it wasn’t random humans I was worried about. It was the other kind, the kind who knew what I was. The lying-in-wait kind.

But if anyone lurked in the shadows, I couldn’t see them. Or, I noted as I drew another breath, smell them. So I was safe. Probably.

In the future dystopian society of Cabal, the government instills equality for all and offers its citizens the perfect system. There is food, shelter and jobs for everyone. The one requirement is to follow the rules without question, including the government’s match in marriage and “The Day of the Chosen”, a lottery that randomly selects families to conceive children as natural means hasn’t existed in generations. Following her eighteenth birthday, Olivia Parker accepts her requirement to marry her childhood best friend, Joshua Warren, and is eager to start her work assignment and new life when it all comes abruptly to an end as she’s arrested and thrown in prison. The only crime committed, her existence.
Olivia is unlike the rest of the world born not from “The Day of the Chosen.” The truth haunts the government and puts her life in grave danger as one simple fact would destroy the perfect system. With Joshua’s help, Olivia breaks free of prison and is forced on the run. Together they set out to find the promised rebel town in search of a new home and new life together. Their situation seems less than promising as they reach the town of Haven. New rules and customs must be adhered to in order to stay. Leaving would mean most certain death in the large expanse of the Gravelands. Time is running out as the government mounts an attack to destroy Olivia and bury her secret with her. Thrown into a world unlike their own, they must quickly adapt to survive.

MY REVIEW

Dystopian fiction is my favorite genre so far. And the synopsis of this book is too good and interesting so I didn't hesitate signing up for a review on this tour.

The story started with a sad tragedy for Olivia and her family. However, thanks to Joshua, her bestfriend, that she was able to move on with her life. In the society of Olivia, every teen who turns 18 is willed to marry whoever is matched to him/her by the government itself. Fortunately, Olivia is matched to her bestfriend, Joshua. But something about her made her different from the other girls her age: she was conceived naturally. When the government found out what she is, they treated her as a threat to them, to their plans, and most of all, to their secret so and they imprisoned her. Later on, she was freed by Joshua's mother, with the help of the Rebel Alliance. But  still, she doesn't know why she was captured, why the Rebel Alliance helped her, and what do they want from her.

Without knowing who to trust to except each other, Olivia and Joshua went into a journey outside Genesis, and outside the Rebel Alliance. I love how Joshua remained by Olive's side even if it means risking his life too. Their marriage is not applicable outside Cabal, but he still treats Olive as his real wife (he proposed to her in the middle of their problem!) and I think it's too sweet. Not many girl-boy-bestfriends end up liking and loving each other, but Olive and Joshua made it possible. Plus, majority of the people their age doesn't know a thing about love and passion. I think it's kinda weird to feel something your body wants and you don;t exactly know what it is. In addition to that, I was amazed by the uniqueness of Olivia's being. Knowing that you're the only one who can give natural birth, how will you react to that? And what will you do? Me? I don't know. Honestly. Haha.

However, I do believe that the concept of this book is not entirely original. Reading it will give you glimpses of other dystopian novels like The Hunger Games and Divergent. But reading this, I didn't actually care at all. Ruth Silver surprised me by adding shocking twists and revelations in the story. And that did not disappoint me from the first page until the end. I'm totally looking forward to know more revelations as Olivia and Joshua continue on their journey.

For dystopian fiction lovers out there, I recommend this good read to you!

(ARC) Book Review: CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE by Cheryl Harper

Can't Help Falling in Love

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Expected Publication: August 20th 2013 by Avon Romance
Buy Links: Amazon | Barnes&Noble | Kobo

The staff of Cheryl Harper's Elvis-themed Rock'n'Rolla Hotel are back with a funny, fresh romance that goes undercover—under the covers!
As a former Marine, hotel manager Tony Ortega has plenty of experience assessing threats, and the hotel's newest guest, Randa Whitmore, is a code red. Tall, blonde, and with legs for miles, she may look like his every fantasy, but he knows she's not really visiting for the famed Elvis Week. Though dangerously drawn to his new guest, Tony will do anything to protect his job . . . especially if it means sleeping with the enemy.
Business strategist Randa Whitmore never meant to be undercover in Memphis. In August. Sweating her expensive spa treatments away. But snagging another perfect hotel location for her father's empire means using all the tricks in her designer arsenal. And even though the sexy, tattooed manager seems oblivious to her charms, Randa's prepared to bring out the big guns—just so long as she can stay objective and out of Tony's muscled arms. After all, it's just business, right?

MY REVIEW

When I tried requesting titles from Edelweiss, the first book I requested is this Contemporary Romance from Cheryl Harper. I know the title is a very common one, but I tell you, the story is really good in a funny and romantic way!

First of all, let's check in at the awesome Rock'n'Rolla hotel, where it's theme is based on the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley! He's my granny's number one crush, so I guess she'll want to live in this hotel for the rest of her life. And the burger? That mouth-watering burger they serve at the bar? I'm craaaaavvviiiiinnnnggggg.

Randa Whitmore is one smokin' hot lady. Beautiful, sex, smart. Beauty and brains indeed. I love and adore her especially she has passion for dogs. I wish I have a dog like Misty... (Look at the cover!) And guess what? She's a book lover! Randa is the ideal type of woman most guys would dream to have. She looks so damn irresistable, wearing those heels with such poise. I guess that't the reason why Tony wanted her so bad. OMG Tony. The hot, ex-marine, and manager of Rock'n'Rolla hotel. Tall, dark, handsome, and freakin' attractive. And a book lover too!
"Growing up, I could never get enough books. No money. No one to take me to the library. Nobody who read to me or around me. And all I wanted was more books."
The way Tony looks at Randa is melting. Even though he doesn't want it to look obvious, he wanted her so bad. And what he doesn't know is that Randa feels the same way too. Randa wants to keep in her mind that she's there for a plain, total business for her family (or her father). But she can't resist her desire for him as much as he desires her.
"Instead of setting him on edge or making him nervous, the way every touch had for the first year he'd been home, he wanted her to move that hand. All over. He had plenty of bare skin. He wanted her to touch all of it."
Randa's life maybe centered between money and shoes, but Tony changed her somehow. He taught her a lot of things through their small talks. Then here comes Willodean, the hotel owner who's as cool as ice. I love her. She values the hotel not as her business but as her home. She values the staff not as employees and workers, but as her family.
"Maybe you don't get it, but people matter more than things. I don't have a lot of things but I remember the people who made a difference to me. And I don't want to forget how lucky I've been."
Can't Help Falling In Love is a well-written novel that wouldn't bore you from the first page up to the last. This maybe one of those insta-love stories, but you will definitely learn a lot from it, especially in decision-making, trust, and self-confidence. I'm totally recommending this you guys and I'm looking forward to read more from Cheryl Harper.

"That first day, I would have said it was impossible. But I can't help falling in love with you."

MY REVIEW

(I wrote this review while watching the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship. I can't believe I was able to work on this while cheering for Gilas Pilipinas! Anyway, congratulations Iran!)

To be honest with you guys, the first half of this book almost bored me to death. There has been a lot of telling about Alessa's daily routine over and over again. Sleep. Wake up. Do something else. See the ghost. Become speechless. Tell Janie. Then repeat.

Somehow, I understand Alessa. It's not that easy to move on after her parents died of car accident, leaving her all alone by herself. She's lucky to have her bestfriend, Janie, by her side to help her move on with her daily life. Plus, I can't understand why this book fall under Dystopia when everything seems to be "right now". College, sorority, late night parties, etc. I even considered DNF-ing this book, but I just can't bear not finishing something I started. So I continued reading on.

I was curious about the "ghost" and what is her connection to Alessa. Why does he keep on showing to her then just disappear? Maybe if I were Alessa I'd be frozen too everytime I see him, especially his eyes. The good thing is Alessa can tell Janie about this without her thinking she's insane. Instead, she comforts her and helped her discover the mystery behind these apparitions. Janie is an ideal bestfriend.

When I came to the next half of the book, I realized I can't stop reading Stitch! I got stitched to it! I totally regret what I thought about it because it suddenly became so good. I personally don't like Physics, or anything related to Math (yes, I'm part Chinese but I hate Math. I'm bad at Math, and by bad I mean very, very bad) but the Physics concepts in the story was amazing! It took me time to absorb and understand them but I love the ideas and the theories about time travel. While I'm still enthralled with these ideas, suddenly everything changed. Shocking revelations were exposed and I'm really shocked. I even stopped reading then stared at the ceiling for about 10 minutes, then I continued to read.

Yeah, I know I'm weird. But Stitch suddenly turned out to be more than I expected. The issues I had with it were concealed by the twists and turns in the rest of the book. Oh! And the ending? I love it! Though it wasn't what I expected it to be. But as what they say, expect the unexpected. Aside from that, I learned a lesson from this book: Never judge the book unless you finish reading it.

So, for sci-fi dystopia and paranormal romance lovers out there, you should totally check out this one.
