Tess used to spend more hours than she'd care to admit playing her favorite computer game, using the nickname Angel. She could pretend her life was different, and she could pretend Arion was just a friend. But a girl needs more to keep her warm at night than pixels, and she traded her virtual heaven for a real-life hell. Now she's on the run from a past she won't talk about, and the only place she has to go is the doorstep of the friend she's never actually met.

When Angel disappeared from their nightly games, it nearly destroyed Arion. He threw himself into work and women, but he can't help knowing the one-night stands will never compare to the angel who haunts his dreams. At first, when she shows up soaking wet and scared-shitless on his doorstep, he thinks his prayers have been answered.

But the more Arion tries to keep Angel close, the more her fear drives her away. If they are ever going to have a chance for a future, they'll first have to deal with the past that hasn't forgotten her any more than she's forgotten it--and Arion will have to learn how to let her go.
MY REVIEW

I never imagined two individuals to fall inlove through an online game. I've played some online games before but I never really got in touch with the other players. I didn't make friends with them personally. I don't even care if they're online or been gone for a long time. I just focus on my character, skills and level.

So, upon reading the plot of this book, I was immediately interested. I was curious on how a relationship, even friendship, was built through an online game. Despite the fact that they haven't even seen each other.

Is it just some kind of virtual love? Or true love?

Tess, or Angel (her username) ran away from her boyfriend, Nick's hands. She's a battered and abused girlfriend. Her choices and freewill were taken away from her, leaving her broken, or should I say shattered. She finally gathered the courage and took the consequences to ran away from him. She was so afraid that he'd find her and kill her, she ended up at the front door of a friend she made through an online game, whose name is Arion.
"Sadness, guilt, and despair consume me. I know I'm no one's angel, because if I had wings I'd wings I'd fly away, and I wouldn't stop until I eventually soared above the pain."
Axel, or Arion (his username) is very sexy and as hot as hell. When she met Angel for the first time, he was so shocked because he didn't expect her to show on his front door. He didn't even believe she was real and that he'd ever get to meet her in person. He accepted Angel to his apartment, as well as to his life, whole-heartedly. He promised to protect her in any way he can, even thought she's still hesitant to tell him the whole story of the past she ran away from. I love how he became so protective about her, and how he was able to understand the situation she was in. He's open and willing to wait until Angel is finally ready to open up.
Reading this book, I felt Angel's pain. The author was able to bring me into her world. I just hate it that she cannot find it in her heart to trust Arion. I mean, why did she ran to him if she can't trust him in the first place? Fortunately, Arion is a very understanding guy. He wanted to give back everything that was taken away from Angel, especially her own choices. He won't let Angel disappear again in his life. Not this time that he finally saw her, and fell inlove with her. He will do everything to pick up the pieces of Angel's heart and make her whole again.
"I know he took your past, Angel, and I know it hurts. I don't want to take anything from you, I only want to share your future."
I was, and still, captivated by the story. The character I loved most is Arion. Not all guys are as patient and understanding as him. He's the perfect boyrfriend material - sexy, hot, protective, patient, understanding - swoon worthy, indeed. Angel's very lucky to have him. He didn't care about her past, even when he learned her deepest secrets. All he wanted is to take her away from that life, and keep her.

This book touched some sensitive issues, and I like how the author brought it justice. A lot of girls have been through Angel's position, overwhelmed by fear. This books tells us that no matter how broken you are, there will always be a person who's willing to understand, accept, and forgive you for who you are and what you did. It tells that we should always learn to accept what we did and be brave enough to face it. Our past lets us learn from our mistakes, so we should not just run away and find an escape from it.

  1. YES! Countless yes's for this review. No One's Angel was such an amazing read, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who absolutely adored it :) I never used to like NA, but I'm glad this one focused on the plot instead of the sexual tension, which is actually way more exciting in my opinion. So yeah! I think I have to reread this soon. Great review Algel :D
