When seventeen-year-old Sia wakes up on a park bench, she has no idea who or where she is. Yet after a week of being homeless, she’s reunited with her family. At school, she’s powerful and popular. At home, she’s wealthy beyond her dreams. But she quickly realizes her perfect life is a lie. Her family is falling apart and her friends are snobby, cruel and plastic. Worse yet, she discovers she was the cruelest one. Mortified by her past, she embarks on a journey of redemption and falls for Kyle, the “geek” she once tormented. Yet all the time she wonders if, when her memories return, she’ll become the bully she was before…and if she’ll lose Kyle.

MY REVIEW

The beginning of the story caught my attention. Sia woke up on a bench at a park, with no idea about herself. She got scared of going to the police, thinking about the consequences she might face. Instead, she went being homeless. She met homeless people, and learned about their way of life. She made a friend with a woman named Carol, who became her guardian angel while she's on the road to nowhere.

That is until she was involved in an accident which led her to her parents. She found out she was living like a princess, a spoiled, mean, rude princess before she lost her memory. She hated her past and did her best to change the way people from her past look at her. She wanted to change into a better person.

Things happened way too fast, even though some of it were predictable. I guess I should've pitied Sia, by I honestly didn't. She easily moved on and found new friends from the group she once referred to as losers. I don't get it why these people accepted her so easily (although they were giving her suspicious looks at first).

Some Hollywood stars were featured in this book since Sia's father was said to be in that business world. But there's one thing that happened in the story that made me feel meh. Clue: about her memory loss. If you want to find out what it is, I'd still recommend this for you to read. Maybe it's just not my type of story since it's not new to me anymore.

I wasn't expecting much from this book but I didn't expect the way Sia's story flowed. I requested for this book because I was captured by the cover, and the mystery behind her memory loss. But in the end, I wasn't satisfied.

Let's say that the idea of the whole story was good and inspiring, but any other writer can write the exact flow. The idea is very common and there are books and movies out there with exact same concept.

MY RATING
IT WAS OKAY.

  1. Nice review. We basically had the same thoughts about Sia. Hopefully, Josh's future works will be much better than his debut.

    1. I hope so too. The concept of Sia is good but I think it's too mainstream.
