Book Blitz: DARKNESS WATCHING by Emma L. Adams

Darkness Watching
by Emma L. Adams
Series: Darkworld #1
Genre: New Adult Paranormal
Published October 10th 2013 bu Curiosity Quills Press

Eighteen-year-old Ashlyn is one interview away from her future when she first sees the demons. She thinks she's losing her mind, but the truth is far more frightening: she can see into the Darkworld, the home of spirits– and the darkness is staring back.

Desperate to escape the demons, Ash accepts a place at a university in the small town of Blackstone, in the middle of nowhere - little knowing that it isn't coincidence that led her there but the pull of the Venantium, the sorcerers who maintain the barrier keeping demons from crossing from the Darkworld into our own world.

All-night parties, new friendships and a life without rules or limits are all part of the package of student life - but demons still stalk Ash, and their interest in her has attracted the attention of every sorcerer in the area. Ash is soon caught between her new life and a group of other students with a connection to the Darkworld, who could offer the answers she's looking for. The demons want something from her, and someone is determined to kill her before she can find out what it is.

In a world where darkness lurks beneath the surface, not everyone is what they appear to be...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Emma L. Adams

She was born in Birmingham, UK, which she fled at the first opportunity to study English Literature at Lancaster University. In her three years at Lancaster, she hiked up mountains, skydived in Australia, and endured a traumatic episode involving a swarm of bees in the Costa Rican jungle. She also wrote various novels and short stories. These included her first publication, a rather bleak dystopian piece, and a disturbing story about a homicidal duck (which she hopes will never see the light of day).

Now a reluctant graduate, Emma can usually be found in front of her writing desk. Her debut novel The Puppet Spell, published in 2013 by Rowanvale Books, is a fantasy tale for young adults and the young at heart, inspired by her lifelong love of the fantastical, mythology, and video games. Emma also writes urban fantasy/supernatural novels for older teens and adults. Her next book, Darkness Watching, is the first in the upper-YA/New Adult Darkworld series, and was published in 2013 by Curiosity Quills Press.

MY REVIEW

First of all, let's take a look at that gorgeous cover.

Stunning, isn't it?

Now, let's go to my review.

I never thought Kinetic would be action-packed (Though it's obvious with the title). Especially the main action star is a girl. I mean, damn! It looks so hot for a girl to be that strong, fierce, and... badass. Yeah, Annie Fox is one BADASS gorgeous woman. I really adore women who are full of adrenaline and know so much about fighting. They give my heart such a rush just by reading their action scenes.

But this strong woman on the outside is one broken wife in the inside. Years ago, her husband, or rather ex-husband, Nick, left her without a clue. Just a bunch of divorce papers. She never saw him again. Not until she accidentally met him during a mission. Her husband's considered the bad guy and she needed to track him down and surrender him to the Org.

Just like other broken love stories, just the sight of Nick still gave some impact to her. She can't explain it in words but she knew in her heart that she needed to hear him out, ask a thousand questions of WHY's. She just doesn't know HOW, especially her boss feels something for her and is overprotective about her.

I love the spark between Annie and Nick. The way they fight and talk to each other, you could really tell the tension that was built between them when Nick abandoned their marriage. It's just that... Why can't Annie be a little more understanding? Ugh! After all...
"Because you will forgive me, you have to. You and I aren't a matter of ifs and whys. You and I are inevitable."
I won't give any more spoilers.

READ. THIS. NOW.

Kinetic will never bore you from the beginning up to the end. There are revelations that gave a "WHAT?!" reaction. Just like what the title says, Kinetic, the words become energy in action the moment I started reading them. It was so fulfilling that I cannot stop reading and I was surprised to realize I was down to the last pages.

Full of action and superpowers, this book is definitely a must-read!

MY RATING
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

Book Blitz + Excerpt: DEAR ADAM by Ava Zavora

Dear Adam
by Ava Zavora
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Expected Publication September 16th 2013 by Createspace
Buy Links: B&N

“You’re the more real to me than any man I’ve ever known … ”
To book blogger Eden, Adam is the embodiment of every literary fantasy she’s ever had. Intelligent, wickedly funny, sexy, and attentive – he and his fascinating life seem right out of a novel. Their whirlwind relationship is so intense and all consuming that soon she can’t imagine being with anyone else.
But there’s one little thing that’s keeping Adam and Eden from their happily ever after.
They’ve never met. She doesn’t even know what he looks like.
Despite how hard she’s fallen for him and how he makes her feel, Eden’s doubts begin to threaten their passionate love affair. Why is he so mysterious? Why does he seem reluctant to meet her? What is Adam hiding?
Afraid that she’s being made a fool of, Eden is forced to choose between her heart and her head. Is Adam too good to be true, as her common sense is telling her, or is the truth more startling than fiction?

EXCERPT

"Eden, no one who knows me would ever believe how we met. Or that I am now a willing slave to our e-mails and Skype talks. You have to understand how strange this is for me. Two weeks ago, if a friend of mine had told me he found a woman online, I wouldn't hesitate telling him to run the other way and not look back."

"But we haven't met," she reminded him. She debated on whether or not to bring up the topic that had lately begun to insinuate itself into her every other thought.

"When," she started to ask hopefully. A definite when, not if. "When do you think we'll be able to meet?"

It worried her that he hadn't asked yet to meet her. Was she not enticing enough? Was she taking the whole thing too seriously? Was he still deciding if she could be trusted? Despite how much time they've spent together, she was starting to doubt herself. Maybe he didn't think she was worth flying halfway across the world.

His reply was swift. "Six months." His tone was firm. This topic was non-negotiable. "At least."

"Six months!" Eden exclaimed.

"I could be there tomorrow," he relented, softening a little. "But I can't leave my business for too long. It's at a critical phase at the moment and I need to be here to make sure nothing gets overlooked. And for our first meeting, I'd want us to have at least a week, maybe two. More importantly, we can’t rush things, Edie."

"I'm not saying tomorrow," Eden said, deflated. "But six months?"

He cautioned against rushing things, but earlier he was hinting of a future together. It was becoming more difficult each day to let him go, no matter how much they e-mailed, no matter how long they talked. Even in the midst of conversation, she would be overwhelmed with an unexpected ache of missing him. His physical absence was a hollow, ever present void.

"We could be really amazing, you and I. But if we are going to do this, I want to do it properly. I want it to last. And that takes time. The best things are worth waiting for. We are worth waiting for. When it’s right," he said in a voice that was unshakably certain, "Name the place. Name the date. Name the hour. And I will fly anywhere in the world to meet you."

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ava Zavora

In my childhood, I used to ride water buffaloes and wade in swamps. When I discovered books, I would go adventuring with Anne of Green Gables, the Pevensies, Bilbo Baggins, or Alanna of Trebond. I incurred my mother's displeasure for reading too many romance novels, so I learned to hide them and read underneath covers with a flashlight late at night. Nowadays, I travel and write dark fairy tales and romantic novels about adventurous women. And I still stay up too late reading, even though I don't get in trouble for it anymore.
