They say you never forget your first love. No matter how many more come along or how much time goes by, there will always be that one person who will be forever embedded deep inside your heart and soul. For me, that was Jaxson Callahan.
We were complete opposites. I was a senator’s daughter. My parents were always too busy keeping up appearances on the political scene to show me love, so instead they bought my affection.
He was the son of a woman who allowed men to use and abuse her as well as him, just for her next fix.
We became each other’s solace during that summer we met, creating a lifetime of memories in three short months. I provided him with a sense of hope that there was more than just the harsh reality of the life he had grown accustomed to, and he showed me a genuine love that I had been yearning for my entire life. We vowed to be together forever. I loved him and he loved me…. and nothing would keep us apart.
Nothing except the secrets that were hiding in that small seaside town.
Secrets that altered our destiny. We were never given any warning as we watched our future shake, crumble and disappear altogether, leaving us with nothing but memories of a bittersweet past.
Life can be beautiful.
Life can be kind.
And, life can be heartless…..because nothing about our situation was fair.

"Together we created an easy silence, a silence that most people would find awkwardly eerie, but for us, it was symbolic of relationship."
DAMN! This woman is killing me multiple times with her books! I finished this book in a day and I can't get enough! You left me speechless again, Beth! You made me cry AGAIN in the middle of the night!

Easy Silence is about the story of Samantha and Jaxson, who came from different worlds. Socially, financially, and emotionally different worlds. Samantha is a daughter of a politician who cares about nothing except his reputation. Because of this, Sam doesn't have a choice but to go with the flow and live with the expectations of the people around her.
"His steel blue-grey eyes locked with mine, and in an that instant, I knew my heart would never be the same again."
Jaxson, on the other hand, is a broken boy who cannot escape the darkness of his past. He is a well-known bad boy around the town that his name is almost equivalent to word trouble.
"Sometimes people enter our lives, leaving an imprint forever embedded in our hearts. they serve as a purpose, however short that time together may be."
Sam and Jax may be from two different worlds, they may have hundreds of differences but they have one thing in common: they are both broken. Broken in a way that nobody seems to care for Sam, except her grandmother who now suffers an illness and doesn't know her anymore. Broken in a way that Jax despises her mother and father so much that he can't stand looking at them or even seeing them. That his past is still haunting him, no matter how hard he tried to escape and forget it. Together, Sam and Jax found comfort in each other. They helped each other to be finally happy, to have the best summer of their lives.
"I don't have any ulterior motives, othen that I really do like you and enjoy myself when I'm around you. It's okay to let me in, even if it's not all the way. I promise I won't hurt you forever."
But this, I tell you, is heartbreaking. Or maybe it depends on your perspective and understanding. It's not your typical HEA... full of secrets, mystery and surprises. All my feelings were contained until the last few chapters! I won't tell much because I don't want to spoil everything but this book is beautifully written.

Beth knows how the mindset of most teenage girls works, like always feeling that their boyfriends will be their husbands, that they can make things work out perfectly, things like that. She can totally pull off whatever age her characters are. If you have read her previous books (if not, please do!), almost all of her major characters are adults. And OMG I love this book and I'm waiting for more from you, Beth! I hate and love you because you always make me cry but at the same time, I like the feeling of the pain your books give me. (Wow, really Algel? You like pain?!)
"You don't see the beauty in life until you realize you'll never see it again; it really makes you appreciate things more, things that I never thought twice about before."
5 out of 5 Pandas!!!

  1. Hi, Algel! Found you on Goodreads and have followed you via GFC, Twitter annnnd Google+ :D

That is a gorgeous book cover (I'm a sucker for pretty covers). I don't typically read much in the romance genre, but I can't say this doesn't sound interesting! Oh - I see you like supernatural books, so I have to ask... Have you ever heard of/read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher?
